Labour’s Rich Man’s War

The Labour government in the UK has significantly increased its investment in army recruitment, nearly doubling the budget for recruitment campaigns this year to £17.2 million. This increase reflects a broader strategy to bolster the armed forces’ recruitment efforts. Furthermore, the government is allocating £1.3 billion to establish a new Armed Forces Recruitment Service, scheduled to launch in 2027. This service will be operated by Serco, a private sector conglomerate, marking a significant shift towards outsourcing military recruitment to the private sector. The investment in recruitment campaigns and the establishment of a new, privately run recruitment service, highlights the Labour government’s commitment to increasing military personnel.
