The arbitration proposal includes a minimal wage increase spread over an extended period, along with a one-time “inflation compensation” payment, which fails to address the ongoing erosion of purchasing power.
This austerity drive targets teachers, nurses, administrative staff, and other essential workers who were hailed as heroes during the pandemic. The government’s shift towards massive military spending, fueled by the war in Ukraine and escalating geopolitical tensions, is directly impacting the livelihoods of these public sector employees. The proposed cuts will exacerbate existing issues, including staff shortages and deteriorating working conditions, ultimately impacting the quality of public services.
