Iran’s Defense Stance

Iranian officials, including President Raisi and acting Foreign Minister Bagheri Kani, have stated that Iran does not seek to escalate tensions or initiate a broader conflict in the region. These statements come amid heightened tensions following the Israel-Hamas war and recent clashes involving Hezbollah and Israel along the Lebanese border.

Iran maintains that its actions are purely defensive and aimed at protecting its own security interests. They emphasize that any retaliatory measures taken by Iran are a direct response to actions taken against it, specifically pointing to the assassination of Iranian military advisors in Syria.

While asserting its commitment to regional stability, Iran also reiterates its support for groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. They view these groups as legitimate resistance movements fighting against Israeli occupation and aggression. Iran believes a lasting peace can only be achieved through a resolution of the Palestinian issue and an end to what they perceive as Israeli occupation.

Despite denying intentions to escalate, Iran warns of a strong response to any further aggression against it. This stance aims to deter potential adversaries and reinforces Iran’s commitment to defending its interests, while simultaneously projecting an image of not being the aggressor.
