Answering this question now on my politics blog, and I think, honestly, the word “woke” is used too much. So many folks, left, right, or center, use the word, and honestly, I think it is overused. I also think it is overrated, too. What does “woke” even mean exactly? No, seriously. What does it mean? Different folks have different answers for what it means, but like, the word also has a non political meaning too, as in, the past tense for waking up, i.e.: he/she/they woke up. The word is so overused at this point and it has practically become a buzzword, and the word can either mean something is good or something is bad depending on who is using the word.
