Separately, musicians of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) initiated their first strike in a century. Negotiations between the musicians’ union and the VSO management have stalled over issues related to wages, benefits, and working conditions. The musicians are seeking a fair contract that reflects their contributions to the orchestra’s artistic quality and financial success, aiming to address concerns regarding job security and maintain the VSO’s standard as a world class ensemble.
