Tiger’s Roar

Russian President Vladimir Putin responded to Donald Trump’s claim that he’s a “smart guy” by agreeing with the assessment, albeit with a caveat. Putin stated that while Trump is right to say he’s smart, he also believes the former US president is a smart guy too. Putin qualified his agreement, saying Trump’s intelligence is evident because he quickly realized the need to work with Russia, despite existing challenges. He emphasized the mutual benefit of dialogue and finding solutions together, particularly for both countries’ interests.

Putin’s remarks came after Trump, during a rally, bragged about his relationship with Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, characterizing them as “smart.” The Russian leader’s response can be seen as a diplomatic maneuver, acknowledging Trump’s flattery while also reinforcing his own position on the necessity of Russian-American cooperation. He framed any cooperation as stemming from mutual intelligence and a recognition of shared interests, rather than subservience. This carefully crafted statement allows Putin to capitalize on Trump’s praise while subtly reinforcing his own agenda on the world stage.
